Photo: Cholla cactus flower

This is a cholla flower blooming in a large pot in our back yard.  It is a good idea to keep cholla up in a pot, as their spikes will cling to you, or to a dog, when walking past them.  They have tiny fish hook ends on the spikes, and their branches will break of to attach to you or a dog if bushed up against accidentally.
