In Arizona, especially, they work in difficult conditions, and these are not high wage jobs. We have a little more than 100 days each year where the temperature is more than 100 degress F. (38 C.) The average high temperature for June, July and August is 105 F. (40.6 C.) Some days, it can reach 115 F. (46 C.)
While most people are driving to work in air conditioned cars, to work in an air conditioned office or other business, landscape workers are outdoors in the heat, often bending down to the ground, to make the surroundings attractive for the people who drive or walk by.
We should acknowledge and show our respect and appreciation for gardeners, which some people in Arizona, particularly politicians, sometimes do not do because some of the workers are immigrants. They work hard to support their families. They exemplify American values.

You are correct about how challenging it is to work outside in the Arizona heat.
I have great admiration for these hard working folks.
I totally agree with you Julie, they deserve to be recognized for their work. We don't get quite so high temps here but we do get many, many days of 35C and over in summer. Gosh 46C would be hard to cope with.
I will add my agreement on this with everyone else. We do have lovely gardens,bushes and trees and really just take it for granted. Good reminder.
